This time of year I really get the urge to spice up my coffee a bit. I used to love buying all of the holiday flavored blends for either the coffee itself or the creamer. However, now that I do things more naturally I can really taste the additives. Not only that, my body can feel them. So I have come up with a few favorites to help me overcome my cravings for all the fun fall/winter flavors.

I love adding Vitality Essential Oils to my coffee grounds. This gives a nice strong flavor, but isn’t too overpowering. One of my favorites is Cinnamon. I have also done a blend of Cinnamon and Clove together. If I only use Cinnamon I just use 1 drop. However, since Clove has a tendency to overpower I add 1 more drop of Cinnamon to give it a boost.
Immune Booster
Thieves Vitality essential oil blend also gives an amazing flavor. It is a blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, and rosemary. If you know much about any one of these oils individually, you will realize how much of a boost Thieves can give your coffee. Not only is it packed with flavor, it’s also a great immune booster. Who doesn’t need that this time of year?
Ginger Coffee
This one is going to sound crazy, and maybe it is, but I also sometimes add 1 drop of Ginger Vitality to my coffee grounds. It really isn’t as bad as it seems. I decided to try it one day when I just couldn’t quite get on top of a migraine. Low and behold, it helped! So now, any time I feel one coming on and I want to take the edge off (and enjoy a cup of coffee) I add a drop of ginger to my grounds. I then add honey as my sweetener along with some coconut milk and enjoy a hot drink.
Creamer
One great way to get the flavor is to make your own Pumpkin Spice Creamer. You can find the recipe here. This recipe shows Almond Milk, but Coconut Milk is also great!

More Flavors

Here are some other suggested Vitality oils/flavors to try:
Orange
Peppermint
Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Clove (2 drops each)
Vanilla Extract
This post wouldn’t be complete without a shot-out to my favorite coffee brand. I learned a few years ago that it does, in fact, make a difference if my coffee is organic or not. My body just can’t handle the junk that goes into the other coffees. I guess you could say I’ve turned into a bit of a coffee snob. I love Equal Exchange because they offer some of the best. It’s a great, smooth flavor and you don’t have to break the bank to drink it. They offer a variety of roast options. My favorite is the Ethiopian. If you can’t find it in a store near you, you can shop online. The more you buy, the bigger the discount.

Something to take note of: Not all essential oils are created equally. Young Living Vitality Essential Oils are approved for ingestion. I feel totally confident using these essential oils #alltheways. I would not suggest ingesting any other essential oils. Do your research and be sure you are using safe essential oils before using them in your drinks/food. To see why I choose Young Living take a look at this post.
