We recently added to our family. She’s a little terrier mix and super adorable. However, she can be quite the handful, like when she decides to play on an ant hill. Needless to say, we needed to quickly find a way to sooth her skin from all of the bites. That’s when we decided to make up this quick and easy calming dog shampoo. But before we get to that, here’s a little more about how vicious those little ants were…
She had been outside exploring the back yard when suddenly she jumped and started darting all over the place. Yep, she had found the ants and they found her! Her front legs were covered in ants. They were clinging to her skin, even when pulled on. I called inside to the kids to have them bring out the lavender essential oil (see which essential oils I use here). My daughter also brought out a fine comb (one used for fleas) to help get them off. I dabbed the lavender on my hands and rubbed her legs down. They kids proceeded to brush/comb the ants off. The poor puppy had bites all over!
I quickly looked up ways to sooth her, knowing lavender was a great choice. I then bathed her in epson salts with lavender. I also made up this lavender shampoo. Wouldn’t you know that those bites hardly even bothered her!
